Vision
All students in Bonsall Unified School District engage in rigorous and relevant learning experiences that inspire them to be productive community members and future-ready, lifelong learners.

About Us

Bonsall Elementary School, established in 1895, is located in beautiful North San Diego County. We serve a diverse population of students within an 88 square mile area that includes Bonsall, along with portions of Fallbrook, Escondido, Valley Center, San Marcos, Oceanside and Vista. Bonsall Elementary (TK-5) is one of five public schools in the Bonsall Unified School District.

At Bonsall Elementary School—while we strive to maintain our rural roots—we are proud to offer a comprehensive educational program that attracts many families to our beautiful community and outstanding school. Families from all over North County choose Bonsall Elementary for its rigorous academic reputation and its safe, family-oriented environment. We are also a proud Purple Star School. Being located near the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base allows us to serve many families who serve in our country’s armed forces. Our faculty and staff are committed to the social and physical development of the whole child, and our task is to access and utilize those community and family resources which reinforce our efforts to teach and nurture students.

Bonsall Elementary School maintains a strong commitment to the value of community service, as evidenced by our parent and community volunteer programs. Such programs assist us in reinforcing basic skills and provide outstanding learning opportunities while at the same time nurture bonds of trust, caring and friendship between our school and our community.

Principal's Message

Dear Bonsall Elementary School Families and Community Members,
I am delighted to welcome you to the BES community! As the principal, I feel privileged to lead such a vibrant and dedicated group of students, families, and staff. Our school is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our Bonsall Unified School District motto of, “Belong, Believe, Achieve” is one we focus on day in and out on the BES campus.

At BES, we believe that education is a partnership between home and school. By working together, we can ensure that our students not only achieve their academic potential but also develop a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Our dedicated teachers and staff are committed to providing a high-quality education, fostering creativity, encouraging critical thinking, and instilling a sense of responsibility and respect in every student.

This year, we have exciting plans and initiatives aimed at enhancing our curriculum, expanding extracurricular activities, and strengthening our community connections. Those activities include the addition of a dance teacher, an Agriculture and Animal Science teacher, and weekly “Leadership Lessons” using our Leader In Me curriculum. The students continue to have music class each week as well. We encourage parents and guardians to get involved in school events, volunteer opportunities, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). Your support and involvement make a significant difference in the success of our students and the overall school experience.

Our website is designed to be a resource for you, providing important information about school policies, upcoming events, and classroom activities. Please check back often for updates, and feel free to reach out to our office if you have any questions or need assistance.

Thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children. I look forward to a fantastic school year filled with learning, growth, and joyful experiences. Together, we can make BES a place where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their best.

Warm regards,

Allison Fortney
